"The Story Behind 'No Name': Trusting God’s Call Through the Unknown"

ree

Sometimes, the most profound moments of clarity come in the silence, the stillness where our hearts are open and waiting for God to speak. I reflect on this now as I write, knowing this post has been long overdue, but also understanding that timing is never our own—it is always in God’s hands.

Last year during Lent, my heart was full of questions and prayers. “How can I serve You better, Lord? How can I make myself more useful in Your kingdom?” It was a season of deep reflection, of longing to know how God might use me, despite my weaknesses and failures, especially in my prayer life. Then, in the quiet of prayer, I felt the unmistakable call to share my journey. Not a perfect, neatly wrapped faith journey—but the raw, real one filled with stumbles, failures, and moments of triumph that come only through surrendering everything to Him.

It was a daunting call, one that felt far beyond my abilities. But the Lord, in His mercy, made it clear that this was not just for others—it was also for me. Shortly after this calling, I received the diagnosis that would change everything: breast cancer. In that moment, I understood that the podcast wasn’t just a project. It was a lifeline, a way to anchor myself in faith as I faced what lay ahead. God was giving me a means to hold onto hope and trust during a time of deep uncertainty and fear.

But as I pondered the idea of starting a podcast, one question kept resurfacing: What do I call it? I prayed and asked the Lord, but the answer seemed elusive at first. Over and over, I heard the same words echoing in my heart: "No Name." At first, I thought I might be overthinking or perhaps just too tired to come up with something more creative. But these words persisted, always coming back to the forefront of my mind.

I shared this with my big brother, who had been encouraging me to move forward, long before I was sure I would answer God’s call. When I mentioned the idea of "No Name," he responded without hesitation: "Exodus 3:14." And there it was. The answer God had been giving me all along.

In Exodus 3:14, when Moses asks God what he should say to the Israelites if they ask for God’s name, God replies, “I AM WHO I AM.” This profound moment reveals that God is beyond our human understanding of names. He gave us dominion to name all creatures, but not Himself. He is the self-existent One, the eternal “I AM.” And in that moment, I realized that the name "No Name" wasn’t laziness or uncertainty—it was deeply tied to the mystery and holiness of God’s identity. By calling the podcast "No Name," I was reminded that this journey wasn’t about me—it was about God’s presence in my life, in all our lives, as the great “I AM.”

The No Name Prayer Podcast is more than just a title. It is a testament to the fact that in our struggles, in the unknown, and even in the face of challenges like illness, God’s presence is constant, guiding us through the valleys and the victories. He is the God who remains unshakable, unchanging, and faithful—whether we have the answers or not.

As I continue to share my journey, I am humbled by how God uses our openness and our willingness to step out in trust. Sometimes, the simplest of names carry the deepest meanings. Just as Moses encountered the God who is beyond names, I, too, have been drawn deeper into the mystery of who He is. The No Name Prayer Podcast was born out of this desire to make space for that mystery and to allow others to encounter Him in their own lives, just as He is, in all His boundless love and mercy.

To anyone reading this, I want to encourage you: God is always calling, always present. Whether we understand His ways or not, He walks with us. I pray that this podcast, and my blog, may continue to be a source of hope and connection—not just for me but for anyone who listens and reads, as we walk this journey of faith together.

I AM is with us. Always. Even when the name feels unknown.

– With love and faith,

Monica
