Combating Negative Thoughts with Scripture

It's so hard not to allow our hearts to harden. Fighting the voices around me that shout my inadequacies, my shortcomings. They say things like:
"You are not enough!"
"You don’t do enough!"
"No one wants to hear how you feel or what you have to say!"
"No one wants to be around you!"
"Nobody cares about you."
These words, whether whispered in our own minds or echoed through the actions or words of others, are lies. But even when we know they are lies, they can feel so real. When you are reminded of your sins, don't forget: God makes all things new. He is the God of mercy and forgiveness. Do not allow anyone to bring you back to that dirty place when God has already made you as clean as freshly fallen snow.

When the World Says You Are Not Enough, God Says His Grace is Enough
When I feel overwhelmed by these thoughts, I turn to scripture for strength and truth. God's Word is alive and speaks into every lie we face. Here’s how I respond to these lies:
Lie: "You are not enough."
Truth: “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
When the world says I am not enough, God says, My grace is enough!
Lie: "You don’t do enough."
Truth: “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” — Philippians 2:13
God is at work within me. I don’t have to rely on my own strength; He works through me for His purpose.
Lie: "No one wants to hear how you feel or what you have to say."
Truth: “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Even when it feels like no one is listening, God is near to me in my brokenness, and He cares deeply about my heart.
Lie: "No one wants to be around you."
Truth: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
God is always with me. I am never alone, and He surrounds me with His presence.
Lie: "Nobody cares about you."
Truth: “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
When the world tries to convince me that no one cares, God reminds me that He cares for me deeply.
Renewing Your Mind in God's Truth
How do we stop ourselves from believing the enemy's lies when they are so loud and clear? We replace those lies with God’s truth. We remind ourselves that:
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
“I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” — Isaiah 43:25
God makes us new. The enemy wants to keep us in the past, in our guilt and shame. But God has set us free. Do not let the weight of lies hold you down when Christ’s grace is lifting you up.
When the world says you are not enough, God says: MY GRACE IS ENOUGH. MY GRACE WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH!
Blessings,
Monica
